How to charge your LIR2032
- Get a LIR2032 charger. Any USB charger made for rechargeable coin cells works.
- Drop the battery in. Positive side up. The indicator glows red while charging.
- Pop it back in. Green means done — ready to use, over and over again.
Only charge LIR2032 — never charge non-rechargeable CR2032.

What's the difference between LIR2032 and CR2032?
CR2032 is single-use — once it's flat you replace it. LIR2032 is the same size but rechargeable, so you charge and reuse the same cell over and over again.
How long does one charge last?
45mAh capacity. In a low-power tracking device, typically several weeks per charge. Rechargeable coin cells hold less energy per charge than single-use CR2032 cells, so expect to top them up more often.
What charger do I need?
A charger specifically for LIR2032 rechargeable coin cells. We stock a compatible USB-C charger, included in the Starter Kit.
Can I charge a regular CR2032?
No — never. This is dangerous and can cause the battery to leak, rupture, or catch fire.
Can I use these in a smoke alarm?
No. Smoke alarms and other life-safety devices need a specific battery with a long, predictable runtime — always use exactly what the manufacturer specifies.
